KU Leuven

Founded in 1425, KU Leuven is the largest Belgian university  with over 41,000 students and 8,084 researchers (2015). KU Leuven conducts fundamental and applied research in all academic disciplines with a strong international orientation. KU Leuven participated in over 540 highly competitive European research projects (FP7, 2007-2013), ranking sixth in the league of HES institutions participating in FP7. In Horizon 2020, KU Leuven currently has been approved 171 projects. The excellent track record in FP7 and Horizon 2020 (including 199 Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions, of which 96 Initial/European Training Networks) is a manifestation of the three pillars of KU Leuven: research, education and service to society. KU Leuven is one of the founding members of LERU (League of European Research Universities).
