Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven (PRE), which are part of the Philips Group Innovation, employs approximately 1000 researchers. Within PRE work is carried in two programmes aligned with Philips businesses: healthcare and consumer lifestyle. Data driven research and service orientation is common for both programmes.
Trust security and privacy play there an important role. Therefore, PRE is involved in many research projects in this domain, both internal for Philips businesses as external. Philips Research has a long heritage of pioneering innovation in domain of security and applying this to specific application areas such as healthcare. PRE is very active in partnering with universities and currently has more than 70 PhD students working in several flagship programmes with different universities. The Data Science department combines experienced researchers in the domains of data management, analytics, information security and advanced computing., secure system architecture, healthcare security and trust management, Big Data in medical and healthcare settings.
The Personal Health Solutions (PHS) department focuses on the exploration and development of propositions for the (self) management of people by measuring their health, monitoring it over time and designing effective health interventions.
